The Energy Conservator writes custom software designed specifically for use with our diagnostic tools. Our software products make it easier to diagnose, document and solve performance problems in buildings.

Blower Door Test Software

TECTITE Ver. 3.2 is The Energy Conservatory's building airtightness test analysis program for Windows computers. The TECTITE program makes it easier than ever to enter, analyze and store Blower Door test data. The program's built-in report generator and graphing capabilities makes it simple for you document and present the results of a Blower Door test to a homeowner or client. TECTITE Ver. 3.2 is compatible with both manual Blower Door tests, and automated tests using our DG-700 or APT system.

TECTITE Ver. 3.2 Features

  • Designed specifically for use with Minneapolis Blower Door systems.
  • Easy entry of all test settings and building information.
  • Calculation and display of building airtightness test results including CFM50, air changes per hour, leakage areas, building leakage curve and estimated natural infiltration rates.
  • Manual data entry mode allows you to easily enter manually collected test data.
  • Choice of report formats including a simple easy-to-read homeowner report, or a detailed technical report.
  • Compare feature generates test result comparison report for any two previously saved building files.
  • TECTITE lets you print your company logo directly on the reports. Uses either BMP or EMF files.
  • Estimated annual natural infiltration rates and ASHRAE 62.2 whole building ventilation guideline can be used to help in determining the need for mechanical ventilation.
  • Estimated design infiltration rates can be used in Manual J load calculations.
  • Program Help screens make TECTITE very user friendly.
  • Compatible with all Windows computers.
  • Airtightness test results are calculated using the CGSB 149.10-M86 Standard.

Auto-Test Features with TECTITE Ver. 3.2 *

  • Computerized control of Blower Door fan and automated flow and pressure measurements. Reduces operator error, eliminates time spent zeroing gauges, and ensures that tests are conducted the same way every time.
  • "Cruise Control" maintains a constant building pressure while the operator performs additional diagnostics or airsealing activities.
  • Reduces wind error by making multiple simultaneous measurements of fan flow and building pressures at each pressure station.
  • New "Pause Feature" allows the automated test to be temporarily paused and then re-started at the pause point.
  • When using an APT system, TECTITE measures and records up to 6 additional building zone pressures during the Blower Door test. All information is gathered simultaneous with the Blower Door test greatly increasing the speed and accuracy of the zone pressure measurements.
  • Zone data report can be printed or viewed on-screen. Report includes calculated Building-to-Zone and Zone-to-Outside pressures, as well as a graph of all measured zone data.
  • Real-time Air Change Per Hour at 50 Pa (ACH50) calculation during "Cruise Control". On-screen display is useful for quickly estimating building leakage rates before conducting a full test.

* Auto-Test Features require use of DG-700 or APT system and associated cabling.

TECLOG Ver. 1.2 - Free Data Logging Software (for Windows)

TECLOG Ver. 1.2 is the The Energy Conservatory's latest data logging program for Windows® based computers. TECLOG can monitor and store data from the DG-700, DG-500 or APT's on-board differential pressure channels, and from the APT's differential analog voltage input channels (which can be connected to optional sensors). TECLOG can now simultaneously monitor and record pressure measurements from two data acquisition devices (the second device must be a DG-700 or DG-500 gauge).

The TECLOG program provides easy control of data acquisition parameters such as pressure and analog channel settings, sampling rates and auto-zero intervals. Data viewing capabilities include auto-axis rescaling, adjustable graph scrolling, quick graph zooming, and a moveable measurement line for determining the numeric value and time for individual data points. A statistics utility can be used with stored data files to provide basic statistical summaries for the entire file, or for a user selected portion of the data. Stored data files can also be converted to ASCII (plain text) format for analysis in standard spreadsheet and statistical programs. The new TECLOG program will also load data files created using our older DOS based TECLOG program.

More information on using TECLOG can be found in User Tip #7. This User Tip contains an article describing how to use TECLOG and a DG-700 gauge to perform a worst-cast depressurization test. A sample TECLOG data file is also provided.

Free ZPD Calculation Utility (for Windows)

The ZPD Calculation Utility is a simple Windows based program which can be used to quickly perform zone pressure diagnostics (ZPD) calculations and estimate the amount of air leakage from attached zones in a house. ZPD procedures typically combine Blower Door airtightness test results with zone pressure measurements made both before and after an opening or hole has been added to one surface of the zone being tested. The ZPD Calculation Utility assumes that the Blower Door test results and zone pressure measurements are being collected using either an Energy Conservatory digital pressure gauge, or as part of an automated Blower Door test using an APT system.

ZPD Calculation Utility Features

  • Program consists of 7 Steps (or screens) which are used to input test information and display test results.
  • Calculation procedures incorporate recommendations from recent ZPD study by the Energy Center of Wisconsin.
  • Zone leakage results include estimated uncertainties.
  • Program includes a check for connnections between zones based on monitored pressure data.
  • Test files can be stored and printed.
  • On-screen Help.

The program is provided in a self-extracting file format. Download the file to a folder of your choice and run it. The program will self extract and prompt you through the installation process.
